The Flower In The Storm

“What´s in a name?” A question often asked, and just as often replied to. “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” – an often used quote from Shakespeare´s Romeo & Juliet. A rose is always a rose, it knows it´s purpose , it does not need a name to define itself. For us human beings – or should I call us human thinkers maybe, as if we were really human beings would we really need to categorize and put names on things to explain what they are instead of feeling in the energy and give names by that 😉 ? – language and words are important. So there can be a lot in a name. If we choose to listen in and honour that name, that word, that picture , the vibration of the name or the word is synchronizing itself with us. Today I was blessed to have a chance encounter with a dear friend in town, as I was racing through the streets on my very fast blue bike. A …

Banana & Carrot Muffins

I know, I know – it has been ages since my last post…. But that does not mean the inspiration was gone, it was just life that kind of “took over”. Now with spring and long days, evenings and even nights as the sun now sets around 23.45 up here and is back up again around 04.00 there is plenty of energy and time to try new recipes. Yesterday evening I baked these gluten, dairy and sugar free muffins – filled to the brim with awesome anti oxidants like carotenoids, with potassium, fiber, heart healthy fats, vitamin D, healing spices, vital-for-bone-muscle-and-brain-vitamins-and-minerals, packed with vitamin A and protein. Aside from that long list of good reasons to try these, they were yummy! Only took 5 minutes to whip together and then 20 – 25 minutes in the oven – so, lack of time does not justify as a reason to not try! Ingredients; 3 finely grated carrots (medium size) 3 eggs 2 dl almond flour 2 tspns baking powder 0,5 tspn sea salt 1 tbspn cinnamon …

Listen

Spring is officially upon us and before we rejoice in all the energy the sun brings us, before we feel it rushing through our bodies and minds filling us with a tremendous intensity of inspiration and motivation, there is always that time of transitioning in to spring from winter. Yes, we do tend to forget that. Every year anew we find ourselves sitting there wondering why we are overcome with fatigue and sluggishness, feeling slightly chilly, eyes watering, itchy nose, wrapped in a huge blanket while turning our cheeks to face the sunlight with a craving for that fluttering spring energy to just kick start itself. Spring, the season of the element Wood, the season of the Liver, the Gallbladder, of Green. The season when the body wakes up again to take in the beauty of life as it re invents itself right before our very eyes. Being the language nerd I am have for a long time been fascinated with the origin and meaning of words in relation to what they can really tell …

Change

The trees are almost completely bare this time of the year in the south of Swedish Lapland where I am living at the moment. More or less totally naked. I can´t decide if they look dead or just totally cleansed, getting ready for hibernation or cocooning. Either way, something changed and there is no way denying it. “Change is the only constant in life” – wise words spoken by dear Heraclitus more than 2500 years ago. Words so evident once we open our eyes to take in the changes in nature – even if we live in the city there are trees and flowerbeds somewhere to be seen and birds to be heard – breathing in the air which changes it’s temperature and humidity as the seasons travel onwards, looking up at the sun to see where it sits today during our lunch break (if you ain´t taking a lunch break, how about giving that as a gift to yourself starting right now ☺ ?), just sharing space with what is moving around, above and …

Return

photo from http://www.dreamstime.com During our Writer’s Circle in January the subject for our 10 minute speed writing session was “Return”. It is not for nothing that I found that piece now, 4 days before we move countries, from The Netherlands to my native Sweden…. The return is imminent, faith awaits Her huge white wings sweeping me in, closing out the darkness for now As the wings open the dark, velvety night sky is adorned with galaxies, light-holes and wishes turned in whisper I stand there, basking in her glow, listening to the whispers from now, the whispers from before, the whispers that were, that are, that will come. In this place all is one. There is no then, no now, no later . Is the return really a return? Or is it an opening of what was always there? She asks me to open my eyes, my ears, my heart with softness, with a waiting, whatever comes in. A feather falls from the sky into my hand. I can feel its softness caressing my cold …

For H….. – and for M

You arrived with a bunch of our “season-friends”, smile from cheek to cheek as if you had swallowed the sun. My heart fluttered, euphoria “He is here”, “he really came” A wonderful summer could not come to a better end. More than a hundred very special people, connected in ways most outsiders never would understand gathered in the evening sun this day in August. Short speech, the bar open, the band playing, the buffet inviting everyone to celebrate. The air was alive, the hearts were filled to the brim, the beer was cold. “Will you come with me?” “Yes”, I whispered. Your hands were warm. “Tonight I have to host this party but tomorrow I am all yours. We have the rest of our lives ahead of us”. My words held a promise. Two souls, young, fearless and bright amidst this crowd of connected spirits, snowflakes being our glue. It is night. I lie here curled up against his body. My face drowning in his naked chest, my whole being shivering, quaking. I try to …

Thank you

This past Friday it was time for our monthly Writer´s Circle get together again, and the theme for the first 10 min speedwriting exercise was “Thank you”. Thank you morning, for waking me up with cold feet and warm, fuzzy blankets of breathing huskies curled up against my back. Thank you table, for supporting me while I scribble, sharing this space with my fellow writers. Thank you, for our “Fellowship Of The Ring”, the “Fellowship Of The Ever Moving Creative Pen”. Thank you creaking door, for awakening the curiosity, the wonder, the inspiration of “who could that be”, for every whiff of fresh winter air sweeping in to tickle my nostrils. Thank you golden threads of magic being woven into my life constantly changing direction, serving up challenges and new situations. Thank you new ways, old ways, good ways, bad ways, corny ways, fun ways, crappy ways. Basically just thank you for all the options. Thank you for this day, this very morning, this moment. Thank you for this place, this space with all its …

The Great Adventure

He was staring right into my eyes, the tiger. He seemed tired, his breathing heavy, as he lay there on his side. With his 17 years of age he had seen and experienced a lot, and his body was tired. His gaze was strong and soft simultaneously, wise and wicked. ” Have you forgotten that Life is The Great Adventure?” he whispered.

Stay

How do you actually manage to stay in that little star, inside your own heart? Why is there so much resistance to wanting to stay there? To let that be your base, instead of the wicked world out there? Who´s actually the boss here?

Bonds

Bonds formed in the heart are not always of the heart. We might think we created them in our heads, for whatever “use” or “commercial” reason, and when this “use” has run its course we break this bond from the head, only to realize it is stuck in the heart. It might be a thorn, or a full rose. It might be just a few petals, or the roots, or the stem. But it stays. These bonds nestle themselves in, growing their vines and leaves around our whole inner world, inner life, inner body. Around our organs, our existence, our inner being. Like a hug, and sometimes like a choke. Just like in the Indian legend where you are taught that it takes a thorn to remove a thorn it only takes one rose to grow a whole rosebush. Where every year the flowers are getting larger, the petals stronger, the stems sturdier and the reach is higher and higher towards the bright shining sun. As fall comes and the roses shrink in for their …
